Lakes, woodlands, and local culture

Discover authentic artisans

The Sharbot Lake area is also known for its diverse artists and culinary artisans. Little shops and studios of delightful and talented potters, painters and sculptors dot the nearby countryside. Sip wine at a country vineyard, savour artisan cheese on a farm, dine al fresco overlooking the lake, pick up hand-made sausages, or stop in for a pint at the local micro-brewery.

Meet up at the Trans-Canada Trail junction

In Eastern Ontario, hikers, bikers, snowmobilers, and ATV-ers can traverse spectacular rural landscapes on some of the best “rail to trail” recreation paths in the province. The Trans Canada Trail and the K & P trail meet in Sharbot Lake, making it an ideal stop for trail users to grab a meal, enjoy a coffee, go for a swim, or find accommodations.

Trail enthusiasts can access many of the region’s finest destinations via trail! The Trans-Canada Trail, maintained by the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance, runs from Perth in the east to Tweed in the west. The K&P Trail, maintained by the County of Frontenac, runs from Renfrew and Calabogie in the north, to Kingston in the south.

A beautiful portion of the trail within the village of Sharbot Lake is wheelchair accessible, with level ground and benches for resting. Along the way, history buffs of all ages can hop aboard the authentic caboose at our historical railroad exhibit.

Other trail networks are easily accessible from Sharbot Lake, including 7 km of quiet forest trails, at the Kennebec Wilderness Trails, and more than 100 km of trails, from leisurely to challenging, in Frontenac Provincial Park.

Explore picturesque lakes

Sharbot Lake has plenty to explore. Dip your paddle alongside the lake’s stunning shorelines and rugged islands. Or cast a line to catch bass, pike, trout, and perch - with little competition.

A sandy beach is free for everyone to play and relax, with washrooms, a pavilion, picnic tables, a playground, large floating dock, and marked swimming area. A boat launch at the side offers easy access to both the Eastern and Western portions of the lake.

Dozens of other lakes are nearby, including the connections to the renowned Mississippi River canoe routes, picturesque Frontenac Provincial Park, the untouched lakes of North Frontenac Parklands, and the majestic cliffs of Bon Echo’s Lake Mazinaw.
